Yeah those are the hatches and they roll back in place electrically, and about the dropped hatch cover, we put it back in the hold at the bottom and they left port can't recall what took place.
Over the years, lots of fights and threats but I managed it all without too much damage.
A couple of stories stand out in the 80's and 90's while I was working for the ships owners as a ships agent. I'd be one of the first guys aboard right after the customs officers and I would deal directly with the Captain (paperwork etc). On one occasion with an Asian crew one of the officers sitting with the Capt kept motioning to me with both hands on his head and wiggling his fingers in the air. He kept doing this and it was a bit odd to me. Finally I asked the Capt "what is this guy doing?" The Capt replied " he wants me to ask you if the crew can get some moose antlers, they're an aphrodisiac and he seems to think the crew needs that" (Just what they need at sea) I thought!! Sorry Capt no moose here. Capt asked then "What about bear paws?" Nope sorry.
One other story. Another ship, Philippine Capt and crew, and I was visiting the Capt on the second or third day. When I got aboard the mate said "OH hello agent the
Captain is at the stern pissing, come with me" "No no no I'll wait here for him" No no come with me" So at the stern, there's the Capt fishing, to my relief, not pissing.
