kick down switch

I'm trying to disconnect the kick down switch on my 94 325IC to try to diagnose a torque converter lockup problem. At first it seemed like it would be an easy enough task because the switch is easy to access. The problem is that I don't know if the wire disconnects at the switch itself or if I have to follow the wire and disconnect it at the other end. The wire goes under the carpet and disappears so I don't know where the other end is. Has anyone ever removed the kick down switch before and if so can you tell me how it is disconnected.

Thanks
Mike
