well, the 993 is generally considered "more desirable" than 964s and early 996s, and its value is depreciating substantially more slowly than either of those cars. Rarity surely has a lot to do with it, but I think desirability is the deciding factor. For example, do you really think that a 924 'Martini' edition will go for more than a normal 924?
