Can't remember on that car as it has been many years since I would have done that specific job. I am pretty sure I would leave the grommets in place and push in the line. Any number of good 3m, Wurth lubricants, and don't worry about contamination. You will have to get some angled pliers with some rubber pieces to grip the line and force them into the grommets. That is as I remember. Bob
