Just going by your schematic, the gry/grn is the + (hot) power for the mirror defrost. The brn is the ground (-) which would complete the circuit, heating up the mirrors. Something shorted the gry/grn to ground and cooked it.
The gry/grn does not provide power to adjust the mirrors so deleting it shouldn't cause problems.
