Hi Flatbutt- I've still got my original Zoji from 1997. My brother asked me what I wanted as a wedding present, and I said I wanted a real (American market) Japanese rice cooker. I knew he had chosen well based on the floral graphics alone. I use it at least once a week, and its been absolutely bulletproof. 23 years and still produces a bowl of perfect rice. I suspect the newer models are just as strong. FYI- Aroma also makes a good rice cooker as well!
Cooking on a Porsche 911- The compound butter made the difference.
