I did the emergency installation some years ago. The shaft on the new alternator was a different diameter which comes with a new nut. It is 24 mm instead of 22 as I recall. The tool in your kit will not fit that nut. I have a dedicated socket for that now. Also, because the shaft is larger diameter, the pulley halves must be enlarged to slide onto the shaft. I used a round file to do that. Your garage shows a 79 SC so I think my experience is relevant. I forget when the SC changed to the different alternator style with the internal voltage regulator. If you have the old engine compartment mounted voltage regulator, the black wire in the alternator harness is not used, nor is the external VR.
