No. It's not a power trip. When people question your authority in that situation. If you do not double down as you say. You lose control of the situation.
It's like going in for a uni lecture and if people start saying you're full of ****, and one does not stop that behavior immediately. What happens? You lose control and it goes down south pretty quick. Uni police get called, but you have lost.
