That paint is typical for the screws on the MFI pumps. It looks too new to be 50 years old, so chances are your pump was serviced or rebuilt at some point. Note also what appears to be gold paint on the barometric cell (that cylindrical thing screwed into the top of your pump), which would not be a factory finish - also suggesting at least some cosmetic work on the pump at some point.
