Hello

Those fumes where generatet by burnt oil and are not a sign from a bad exhanger. they are a sign from a oilleak wandering inside the exhanger trough a gap or a rusthole.

Exhaust gases are hard to smell only if the mixture is to rich.

Removing them is very simple by just removing the J pipes yet it sound simple but geting on that spot says use good tools and be patient.
