A Ballasting Act. . .
To ballast or not to ballast - that is the question.
I have a Gen 2 Permatune, with a points setup (upgrading to a Pertronix setup in the old cast iron distributor).
(this is a 1968 911L)
I ordered a new coil and plugs/plug wires to do an ignition tune-up and I noticed on the green tag of the coil it says to use a ballast resistor.
My current setup doesn't have one, do I need to include one since this new coil's label calls for one?
Clearly I don't understand the reason for having a ballast in mechanical vs. electronic scenarios, but want to learn.
