I just received my Kardex for my 68 Sporto. I wanted to check the engine number just to make use it matched.
Problem- the engine number and code are not stamped on the case.
The Kardex matches the number on the original owners book.
It does not appear that the case was sanded down and the numbers remove. I sanded wit a wire wheel just to check..
I am the 3rd owner. only 51K miles and it sat since 1977.
Could number be somewhere else?
I assumed it was a numbers matching car due to the owners history. I am trying to locate one of the previous owners to see if they have any info.
