Can you easily afford to do your own repair or replacement if necessary? Would it be more of a hassle to get the ins co to fix things (and then the corresponding increase and/or cancellation if you end up having 3 claims in a year or whatever their criteria are). How nice is the car. Is it essentially perfect (for a 10yo driver). Are you guys in love with the car and want to keep it for another 5 or 10 years, or would she welcome some new wheels?

I'd think when the value is somewhere between $5k and $10k depending upon the folks paying the insurance, the cost of the ins and the car.
