I dont think so. It was right when polaroid stopped making it if I recall and my suspicion was that likely a well known artist/photographer or hollywood type bought it up for a project...or was hoarding it due to low supply
Actually thinking back I think I sold almost $2,000 in film to the guy even though the expiration date on each box said the film was 10 years old
