Corn lights need a properly designed reflector. You my get lucky and have just the right one. Otherwise they cast light mostly sideways. I use one of those in a photo light box with a diffuser. Does a great job and doesn't get hot inside the enclosure.
The bottom line is no way will one of those put out the same light as a MV or MH fixture.
