It’s been a while since I did this so I had to look it up, but I don’t remember having to pull anything. The entire sensor is pretty much just a threaded stub. I would continue backing it out until you can pull it out, check and make sure something isn’t getting hung up on the edge of the hole where the grommet goes, or if the cable is pulling on the sensor so it isn’t backing out straight.
