Advance Timing for a Weber Carbureted 2.7
Hello everyone,
I recently purchased a 1977 911S with weber carbs. This weekend I went through and replaced the points with the Pertronix Ignitor ll with the adaptive dwell feature. I went ahead and set the timing at idle. However I know at some point you also need to set the timing at 6000 to 35 +/- 3 degrees. In reading through the procedure, I need to remove the vacuum line going to the distributor and then set the timing at 6000 rpm. When I went to look for the vacuum line, it seems that the line has been already removed an capped (see pic below). I was told that with the line already being disconnected and with the car having carbs, I do not need to set the timing at 6000. Is this true that I do not need to set the timing at 6000 being that the vacuum line has eliminated?
Also, if I do need to set the timing at 6000, I have a timing light with a dial for various degrees, do I just set the dial to 35 and then set the timing using the Z1 mark on the crank pully?
Any help you can provide, is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Daniel
