Initially, I'm open to the idea that folks can change for the better (or worse), but at some point, it seems that change for the better is highly unlikely, and in the process of hoping for that change, that person is going to adversely impact many, many lives. Yes, some people are effectively beyond saving.

Still, I think the sentiment that beatnavy has is a good principle. At some point, most folks are probably "savable." If it were possible to save all of the folks that are "nurtured" the wrong direction, we then may be left with few enough that are purely "nature" problems.

Never taking any human life should be a goal for all of us, but being prepared to take a human life if necessary should be hand in hand with the goal of never having to.
