Look at the front suspension. If there is a small u tab on the top of the lower control arm then the through body one works. If it is a larger bolt down upside down u, then you need a later model sway bar. I'm almost sure you will need to use a later sway bar.

Good news is that with the stock 911 19mm torsion bars up front any stock 911 sway bar will be plenty for a 914. Also you can probably sell your 914 front bar for more then a used 911 bar cost. I think you'll need to make some sort of adaptor mount for the rear of the bar to the chassis because the late 911 bars mount under the pan or to the suspension cross member.
