Hey guys!! Check this out
My 73' 914 has been undergoing a major restoration since the beginning of april 03'. My dad and I started it after my dad bought it for ma as a late birthday present. When I first got it, it was a total piece. My dad didnt even know how bad of shape it was in when he bought it (he paid 2800). We got it in our garage, we took of the fiberglass rockers, and found a mess. I was able to poke my whole hand through the bottom of the car in a few places because if the rust. There was a huge hole under the pedal assembly. And there was also bad rust in the normal places, like in the sill of the door, the corners of the door jam, and the battery tray, and also there was a huge hole above the engine compartment relay. I didnt care thogh. I was 15, and I owned a Porsche!!!! My mom bought my dad a mig welder for fathers day, and my dad bought some reinforcement panels to weld over the old longitudinals. Together my dad and I cut out the rust, and made some pieces to finise the holes everywhere up befor we welded in the reinforcement panels. After about 6 months we finally finished (my dad and i only worked on my baby on the weekends, that is why it took so long). After all that we sent the seats out to get re-upholstered, and we took the car to a bodyshop to finish the restoration. It has been in the body shop for about 2 months, and they fixed all the body rust, out por 15 on all of the new steel, and fixed all the dents. Then I purchased a pair of fiberglass bumpers and a small lip spoiler. The bodyshop now has those installed, and they are painting the car as i write this. It is being painted a bright red, the same red used on lamborghinis. The car should be done in a week or so. And I turn 16 on march 24th. I will answer any questions you might have about this project, and I will keep you updated. I will post pics when completed!!!!
I cant wait!!
