I cannot imagine polycarbonate lenses to be more scratch resistant than glass. And I think the thickness of a glass lens would be a function of the optical prescription. If you are terribly far-sighted, then they will be like coke bottle bottoms. If no optical prescription is needed, then I would expect them to be thin enough that weight is not a problem.
