Thing about the 928 is that the market is very THIN, almost no really nice cars get sold, and the rest may sit for sale for a long long time.
OTOH if I was shopping, I would be checking on EVERYTHING good+ cond that I run across. Start with the VIN and do some searching, if you are local ask your mechanic if they know the car. First time you talk to the owner, know your limits and be ready to buy.
