My 944S2 does the same and so do at least another 3 that I heard. Is normal on a S2. I have removed my air condition compressor and the starter will turn the engine faster, but still it will do a few turns before the car fires. So I would not worry to much. A weak battery will make things more dramatic because the starter will struggle and the car will have to start with quite a slow cranking speed.
