As Makis say's and I've checked.

S2's WILL take a few turns to start, this is normal and is SAFE.
There is an inhibitor which allows the engine a few revolutions before it fires, this is to protect and allow some of the oil to flow before the engine kicks off.

When starting the car it WILL take a "shirt" while to fire.

Starting procedure

1> Gear in Neutral
2> Clutch in
3> Electrics off , heater,stereo etc
4> NO GAS, DONT PUMP GAS AT ALL
5> turn key to start position and allow to crank
6> when the engine fires, dont release the key immediatley, leave it in the start postion of a second or so
7> Release key
8> release clucth

its in the drivers manual
