Big fast tracks are where the leggy nature of the 930 4spd really excels. For RA, it would leave 1&2 stock, and shorten up 3rd and 4th a bit, and you’d be golden.

Just yesterday I was talking to a client about whether he stays 5spd or converts to 6spd. I made the point about how more isn’t always better. Every time you shift, there’s .2-.25 seconds where you aren’t on power. So let’s say the extra gear has you shifting 6 more times per lap (3 up and 3 down). That’s a second and a half, or so per lap. More gears allow greater driveability in a race situation with traffic and such, but as a general rule on a fastest single lap qualifying type situation, it’s rarely faster unless it’s been optimized for a specific track.
