I get it, especially when you're from a place that has a strong history. I don't think there's a strong hot dog tradition here in Houston or in Florida, the two places where I've spend the most time. I'm not tied to any one particular style of hot dog. To me they are like a burger, the possibilities of a good one are almost only limited by your imagination.
I'll eat a hotdog with mustard only, ketchup only, mustard and ketchup, chipotle mayo, etc... Then there's chili, onions, relish, cheese, sauteed onions, fried onions, etc....
My opinion is if it's a hotdog with stuff, bring it on!
