Proper way is with a thread repair insert. Most Napa stores sell a kit that comes with the drill, a 7mm tap, and a few sleeves, that have 6mm thread on the inside and 7mm on the outside, you drill, thread, insert sleeve coated with locktite, and then strike it with a setting tool that is also included to prevent the insert from backing out.
