I don't really know, but I'd expect Maori to maybe be more like the Samoan culture.

IMO Anyone who hits their significant other(s) is a coward & this guy was no exception. I can't say much more than that without pushing this into PARF but the neighbors wife and kids would often turn up at my front door looking for sanctuary. The story gets really long from here.

That's unfortunate. Low-life dirt bags exist in every group. Being in the US, I don't really have any exposure to the Maori or their culture or any understanding of their interaction with the European-based NZ folks.
I can only assume that relations aren't perfect/great between what were natives and the folks that came from other places and colonized.
