How would I ever fill up 1 GB of data?!?! (circa 1992)
My first tech job (1987) was help desk for a software company. As junior guy, I got the COMPAQ "12 Mhz!" boat anchor with 2 x 360k floppy drives. After three months, I got bumped up to a 10MB hard drive, but it would not spin up on its own, so the cover was left off and you had to manually spin-start it each morning.
Finally, an old anecdote: IT (before it was 'IT') support guy is changing out a disk-pack:
Female student watching asks, "Wow, that looks heavy. How much does it weigh?"
IT Guy: "Depends on how much data is on it."
Female student: Nods in approval and complete belief.
