Two reasons: partly owned by Renault, and they don't know their marketplace.
In the 80s they were neck and neck with Toyota, but have lagged behind ever since, and once Carlos Goghst'n got involved it got worse.
That said, Ive done in a company Nissan truck the same trails in god awful conditions that Toyota trucks have done, without worry.
