The forever wide body Carrera

Hey all. Been lurking on this forum for many many years since owning my 911 (10 year ownership at the moment). Brief background on the car and how I came about owning it. Car was purchased last decade to the date (30.10.24). I had (at the time) had an agreement with my dad that whatever money I’d put into a car, he would match it, then over the years, slowly pay him back until it’s fully paid for.

At the time, my 21st birthday was coming up (this is before 911 skyrocketed) and I decided to look at JDM cars around the 20k mark (now in Australia, I could have picked up a r32 gtr for 18k). I started to think, maybe I should buy a 911 now instead of buying a jap car, I mean, if I really want one, I can buy one later on as they may not increase in price as much as a 911…(got that one wrong lol)

So, I started browsing online older 911’s (was mainly looking for a 72 2.7l 911, long hood) but I somehow saw pics (poorly taken photos) of a AUS Delivered 3.2L turbo body carrera. I didn’t think anything of it, my dad said it’s a good decent car as it’s AUS Delivered (I think only 1000 were made in 85 for the aus market). Anyways, we managed to see this car in person, and to our surprise was in a lot better condition. We started talking, we threw him an offer and he declined it, so we both walked away

Cut a long story short, the car was always on my mind, and I hadn’t heard back from the owner for the past 3 weeks. Eventually the ad changed to “sold” and the car was taken off. I was guttered as over the weeks, I (at first never liked the impact bumpers) fell in love with the shape.

On day, my father comes to my workplace and we start talking about the car and how we just missed out on buying it, he then handed me a small piece of paper, in which I opened it very confused, which read a “deposit agreement” for a 1985 wide body carrera.

My heart dropped and I couldn’t believe it. I was a childhood dream to eventually own a classic 911 as the distinct smell and shape of the car was imbedded into my brain.

Now, a short overview of my dad, back in the day, he had previously owned a 3.0l carrera, turbo body targa, 930 turbo and 3.6l 964 turbo.
Being the age I am (30 now) I grew with sitting in the back (my father made a custom baby seat in which sat on the hump in the middle) and we would always go for family drives. The smell and shape, I could never forget.

Fast forward to today. I ended up driving it on the day of my wedding, the car got paid off completely, and now recently a father myself, I wish to do the same with my family in which I hope they too have many memories in the 911

Here are some pics of it over the years, from start to current. Sorry for the long story.
