"Gently" means enough to shape the trim in the corners and allow the seal to fit. It was NOT bashing hard. I also used the Porsche seal and have excellent fitment - the URO seal was unavailable at the time. Got rid of some minor wind noise, but who am I kidding, it is a Targa, and not the poster child of quiet to begin with.
