^^^ They say the same about walnut trees...heavy nut-fall means harsh winter.
With walnut trees it's not true. They go in cycles of about 5 years. About every 5th year the nut production is way less/almost none. Then the other years, mine has about 15 wheelbarrows full.
It never relates to our winter weather.
I don't know about oak/acorn trees.
