We've only been here since Dec 2020, so 4 summers. Every year we've had weather that had some odd extreme. THe first winter was "snowmaggedon" where there was snow over much of Texas and single digit lows, so that was a cause of an unusual year as far as plants and animals go. And then the summer of 2021 and 2022 were very dry which also caused the plant and animal world to be affected. I thought this year was going to be different. Most of the year we had good rain and mild temps, but then since Sep, the rain stopped and everything turned brown. It's certainly been cool the past week or so, but I think it hasn't been as cool as our past couple of winters (yet). I'm hoping for a mild winter, but at the same time, I don't want a bumper crop of bugs which is often the result of a mild winter.
This year is the largest crop of acorns that we've had. I don't think we're having an especially bountiful year of pecans though.
