Remember what you said about the stiff sidewalls, that's going to correlate to pressures.
I was taught to check the wear line in reference to the triangles after driving hard (or competing) and adjust the tire pressure up and down to maximize the contact area.
I once set my tire pressures to stock when running R888Rs and quickly wore down the center of the rear tires and had terrible handling to the point I thought something was broken. Dropped about 10psi and all was well.
