Sorry to hear of your troubles. Tell your wife we are all impressed with her, because we are. Wow.

Some people can be bought off really cheap, especially drug addicts. The conversation would go something like, "how much do I have to give you to never see you again?"
With some people, you can structure it as a loan and it works the same way, you will never see them again. Not the same situation but I know a guy who got a house way below market in LA a few years back because it had some weird cult of Rastafarians using it as their clubhouse and a previous owner had given them a 99 year lease that they planned on enforcing. My acquaintance, who was a bit of a nut in his own right, was pulling his hair out because he thought that he would have to give a lawyer a large retainer and begin a long legal fight to evict them. Hey, he got the deal on the house because of them. Think Hell's Angels clubhouse but I'm sure less scary people.
Anyhow, I gave him the advice of approaching them in a friendly way at first and explaining that he bought the house and was planning on living in it, you knew that they were going to have to find a new clubhouse, etc., and offer them some moving cash. I told him to bring cash, at least a couple grand.
He called me later and was jumping with joy because they agreed to move on down the road for $2k, which was a fraction of the attorney's retainer he was about to pay.
Now I know that this is not the same as your situation but just an illustration of how cheaply people who don't have schit can be bought off. Good luck with it.
