Ahoy from George and Evie! We’re sailors and know too much about boats but not nearly enough about our car.
She’s a 1984 Carrera with some history…an old track car that was rejuvenated for street driving.
We’ve owned the car for quite a few years and she worked great until we went sailing.
After sitting in the garage for a few years, she no longer starts and has no spark.
Here’s what we’ve checked so far:
- 8/3/20205 - Replaced the DME Relay with one from Focus 9.
- 8/3/2025 - Speed Sensor reading ~1048 ohms. Voltage is >3 and seems to climb up to ~5 while cranking.
- 8/3/2025 - Crank Position Sensor reading ~360 to 440 ohms. Voltage seems the same as the Speed Sensor.
Any help on what to check next would be greatly appreciated. I hope to continue to post info about the issue as we keep researching/troubleshooting.
