Four decades ago, my ECU "surfing buddies" would be skipping classes and heading to Nags Head .... when the outer banks was ... what it once was... practically deserted.
One of these daze ... the thousands who pack these strips of sand will pay dearly when a storm hits....
I've been there when you couldn't stand on the beach in sustained 40 mph winds this time of year ... not even a storm.
This one is 500 miles across....
