Man, what a hassle if that is the only way to keep your rates down. What ever happened to "I've been accident and ticket free, I am responsible, give me a discount"

In my calls around about my Falco 2 weeks ago, the cheapest rate was for me to stick with Progressive as the other companies rates were 3-4 hundred more a year. And god does it vary state to state.....But it is still better than Hawaii. I paid twice as much for the same bike than what I do here. I lived on Kauai where the accident rate was extremely low, theft was really low but the insurance company could never explain why my rates were higher than Virginia?

I think once the law got involved, it gave insurance companies a legal leverage and there is no regulation on the rate structure. God I hate to think of gov regulation, but what other option is there?

In Virginia, you can bypass the insurance by paying a 500 payment to the state yearly, which in effect gives you liability. But then if you're vehicle is stolen, or you run into a tree you're screwed!
