You aren't missing a thing. The guy who helped on this has done 12 of these, 5 of them on 3.6 conversions.
This front cooler, on an SC car with 3.6 - & with with the fender mounted cooler I already have - resulted in temps no higher than 220 on a 105 degree day at Thunderhill.
My car is so low and has the front lip spolier - not much air goes UNDER the car, forcing the air through the cooler (which stands almost 2 inches away from the inner body btw)
That ought to do the trick. Plus, it is a 'proven upgrade' ;-)
