I did the same thing when doing some radiator work on my car ...I put the hose on the wrong way(both sides look the same but one is correct and one isnt) and it got cut open by the alt belt. So i duct taped it up and drove it to napa and got a new one ..heh. On our cars there is a little hose clamp thingy that pulls the hose away from the alt fan and belt... most mechanics neglect it and dont put it back on. For 3k I would expect expert mechanics not some dimwitted, hose lacerating bum****s. Maybe they will give you a decent reach around next time you go back
