Grinding down early stock spacers for Late Wheels on Front

Ok. My Boxter Wheels are not quite on yet. Poor car has been on jackstands for 2 weeks. The wheels did not NEED spacers to work but they will look MUCH better with them.

I found out you must grind or machine early rear spacers to make them fit the front as the front and rear hubs are different sizes.
The inside diameter or the rear spacer is fine but the ‘lip’ will not fit over the hub.

An article on this is at Danno’s site (Racer X) here.

Here is my first round on the angle grinder. 1 hour total for the pair.

The last ‘lip’ that is left is approx 2-3mm and will probably take just as long. I will post pics after.

I chose grinding because

A. Machining would be $60-120
B. This does not have to be that precise because there will still be ½ inch left that matches up with the hub perfectly on the spacer AND the wheel will have a bit over the hub as well.
