The thing that kills me is, whoever the perpetrator is had to weigh his options as to which mass media outlet was the most anti-W; the most likely to run with this b/c it fit what they really really wanted to be true; the most likely to ignore any contrary evidence in order to smear W.
Lo and behold, it was CBS and Dan Rather. And he was right. He must have a low opinion of CBS, or a very very profound understanding of how they work and how they decide what is "news".
