Guys, you're being incredibly optimistic - my '83 has fewer miles, doesn't need a new transmission, and had a fairly new clutch and I paid $2000 for it last winter. We're talking about a high-mileage car that's going to need a high-dollar repair right off the bat, and it's got the less-desirable early interior and damaged front spoiler. There's no mention of when the belts have been done, either.
At 3 or 4 thousand, someone has lots more options - lower miles, newer cars, better condition. I'd say Farleyd's car fall more into that price range, since it's got good upgrades even with it's high miles.
