Andy, 911's have a feature found on mosr german high end cars that enables you to keep one side, either left or right, parking lights on after the car is parked. If you leave the turn signal clicked, then the corresponding side will stay on. I think they have this feature so if you were to park your car on a tight roadway with no lights you can enable this to keep motorists from smacking onto your car. I know that you mentioned it is your headlight that stays on but maybe that is a short. Try leaving your turn signal clicked and shut the car off and go check.
