Personally, I have no problem with most of what local governments do. My problem lies with the federal government taxing citizens for education, social welfare, foreign aid, etc. The federal gvt needs to stick to doing only the things envisioned by the founding fathers. Leave the rest to state and local gvt...and private charity/philanthropy.
