I too use the 50% rule. If its used, 50% or less. This however does not apply to speciality shop tools. Porsche or Chevrolet. If these items are used in the home shop, they are rarely used at all, and rarely abused.

I have a several Porsche shop tools including the aforementioned engine/transmission holder. If I were to sell it, since it is used rarely and has a resale value, it would be close to new price.
