Those of you that have lifts, in a normal garage, how much space do you lose to walk around and get in and out of the car?

I have a 2 car garage and have considered this, but I'm afraid of losing too much walking around or floorspace. I thought about a 2 post lift for storage, but have heard bad things about sitting the car on its lift points for the majority of its time.

All the guys I know around here have these wonderful shops with ample walking around room.
