I've used welding cable before, without issue I'll add. BUT, be especially careful in that it has a softer easier to slice covering than dedicated auto cable. It is soft and with finer wires has more surface area.

I'd recommend and have had great luck checking with a Big Rig shop where they will mark, solder and finish the wires to your desired length with top quality wire covered in abrasion resistant coating. I've run as large as 00' but it is obviously heavier though no voltage loss
