Despite the brute fact that women can do things (one, for sure) for you that your car can never do, I prefer cars now. Having said that, I am also concerned about the future....
You see, I have been reflecting lately on how subjective most of our judgments are. Often we are depressed because something is not going right. We have a need (material, emotional, whatever) and if that need goes unmet, it can become very disturbing to us. "Well," I think to myself, "what if I were a starving Ethiopian ten-year-old girl with AIDS?" In other words, why can't I be happy with what I've got. I've got a lot to be happy about. But this disappointment thing, particularly as it applies to material possessions, is a sickness that gets worse over time.
A final comment. I'm not gonna criticize your girlfriend. As I've said, materialism, and selfishness, is a sickness that kills its host, and she may be developing this downward spiral, but I'm not gonna call her a gold digger or a dingbat. But I'm gonna agree with Warren one more time. It's about control. Trust me. It's about control.
